Avery is absolutely beautiful, inside and out.

Linda and her rescue partner, Rachel, of Twenty Paws Rescue in NY, rescued Avery when she entered a high kill shelter in 2013. She was only 4 months old. She entered the sheltered injured, and the Twenty Paws Rescue team rushed her to one of their veterinarian offices.avery-1

After a quick work up and x-rays, the doctor told Linda and Rachel that she had seventeen broken bones. A human with blunt trauma most likely caused the injuries. Avery did not have any signs of bleeding or bites that would have told them the injuries were from a car accident or dog fighting. The vet told Linda and Rachel that it was possible for her to live a good life, so they decided to go forward with her first surgery. Through the abuse, the surgery, and the difficulties of her journey, Avery still smiles everyday and loves life.avery-humans

Twenty Paws has cared for Avery since 2013, and she is currently in boarding. It is heartbreaking that she is still waiting for her forever (or even foster) family to find her. Their team has worked tirelessly for years without giving up, and they could use the help to get her name out there. It’s time for Avery to find her forever humans!avery-again

Avery is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. She is also fully vetted, microchipped, and healthy. She is low energy and simply looking for a quiet home and a best friend.  Avery must live as the only pet in the house, as she likes her space!  Avery can be adopted in VT, NH, ME, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA.

#averyforpresident and a forever home this year! I am still waiting and dream of snuggling up with my forever family before the cold holiday and winters months approach us. All I want is to wiggle my butt on walks, share your closet (because I have many outfits), and be your only best friend. If you think that will work for you please email twentypawsrescue@gmail.com for more information on me. I am looking for a home in ME, VT, NH, MA, RI, MA, NY, NJ, and PA. All the rescue girls tell me “You are beautiful inside and out” Our sweet girl deserves the very best this world has to offer her. 60 pounds, fully vetted, microchipped, house trained, and crate trained. Quiet and low-energy. I would like a home with a yard and no other pets. #avery #rescue #loveme #newyork #adoptme #twentypawsrescue #bestfriend

AVERY is still searching for her forever. She is an amazing dog who literally loves every person she meets; big, small, young, old…she does not discriminate! She is extremely well behaved at the vet, loves car rides (flips on her back, wiggles around, and then falls asleep) and is 100% house-trained. We recently went for a little trip into the town where she’s being boarded and had a blast. We even stopped to say hello to the local volunteer firefighters, where Avery won hearts! Everyone remarked what an awesome temperament she has — there is truly zero “warm-up” period for Avery – she loves everyone instantly. Avery has been waiting for a home for three years. When she was just 3 months old, she arrived at an open-intake city shelter in Chicago with over 20 broken bones in her body. All her feet were broken, her two back legs, along with forced trauma to her head. She was pulled by Twenty Paws Rescue, a non-profit group who pulls dogs from public shelters in different cities…but three years later, a forever home is still just a dream. Avery, whose tail never stops wagging, is described as “low to medium” energy. Because of her past trauma, her legs are crooked, so she prefers shorter, less-intense walks. All Avery needs is a home without other pets. That’s it.
