Dog Rescue Stories: Brixton Doesn’t Let His Disability Hold Him Back

By Jarissa Aquinde, Positively Woof Rescue and Adoption Story Editor

Deemed unadoptable because I was born deaf, I was destined for death row by the same shelter that rescued me from the mean streets of California. That is until the wonderful Amy at Mostly Mutts Dog Rescue in Camas, WA agreed to take a chance on me. Next thing I knew, I was on my rescue flight to Washington and I was overwhelmed with the love I was getting in my new, temporary home.

Amy spoiled me with tons of cuddles, yummy food, the best pup friends and even sent me to deaf doggie boot camp for a week to learn sign language. After five months at Mostly Mutts, I met my future mom and it was love at first sight!

It’s been a little over a year now in my forever home, where I’m living it up in Seattle with my mom and big kitty sister, Ruby Puffkins.

Even though I was born deaf and destined for death row, I never let my rough start in life or disability hold me back!
