Dog Rescue Stories: Charlotte Was Rescued From the Streets of Puerto Rico

By Jarissa Aquinde, Positively Woof Rescue and Adoption Story Editor

Rebecca and her husband, Steve, live in New Jersey. They adopted Charlotte on August 27, 2016 from the Sato Project, which rescues abandoned and abused dogs from the streets and beaches of Puerto Rico. Rebecca’s family is originally from Puerto Rico, and she’s been aware of the overwhelming stray and dog abuse problems they have there. She’s wanted to be part of the solution since she was a little girl. So, it was literally a dream come true for them to adopt a dog in need from Puerto Rico.

Charlotte has been such a blessing and ray of sunshine in their lives, in such a short amount of time. She is smart, sweet, gentle and loves everyone that she meets! She gets stopped on the street for cuddles and kisses daily. Rebecca and Steve don’t mind one bit, because they see how happy she makes people….and the world can use an extra dose of happy these days.
Charlotte is registered as an emotional support animal and they intend to train her to become a therapy dog. Her instagram, @ApuppynamedCharlottewas created as a way to share photos of her and bring some awareness to the incredible work her rescue does. Coincidentally, it has also been a way to connect with other dog lovers and owners and promote small business. Rebecca and Steve hope that she can bring others some of the joy and fun she brings into their lives.
