Dog Rescue Stories: Lia is Full of Love in Her Forever Home!

Lia’s pawrents’ cousins had adopted a dog from Protectora Amics Del Animals Del Segria in Lledia, Spain and volunteered at the shelter often.  When Lia’s pawrents visited them from Barcelona, they went with them to the shelter to help walk the adoptable dogs.  When they arrived, a man walked in with Lia (a Pit Bull/American Staffordshire Terrier mix), and was going to surrender her because she was “too energetic” and destructive.  Lia’s pawrents took her for a walk, and then adopted her that same day.  She then traveled back to Barcelona with her new forever family…and settled nicely into her forever home!

Lia is very energetic and never seems to get tired! She LOVES to play, but prefers running around with big dogs, as she has been bitten by smaller dogs several times.  Lia is great with humans, especially women, but takes a little while to warm up to men. When at home with her good humans, Lia is relaxed, but does suffer from separation anxiety.  Her parents are helping her overcome it.

Lia is now a year and four months old, and is celebrating her first “Gotcha Day” TODAY, September 22nd! She loves spending time with her family, fur-friends, and exploring the outdoors!
