In June 2014, Victoria was rescued in Georgia, after being hit by a car. The police officer that responded knew that if he took her to an animal shelter, she would probably be euthanized. Thankfully, the kind-hearted officer put the injured pup in his car and took her home. Later, he and his family took Victoria to an animal hospital, where she had her leg examined. It was very badly broken, but they put a splint on it while the officer and his wife looked for Georgia’s owners. No one claimed her, and since they already had a dog, they looked for rescue organizations to help.
Dalmatian Rescue South Florida (DRSF) stepped in to help. Victoria had to have her leg amputated and she had numerous other health problems. Three weeks after her surgery, Pilots and Paws flew her from Georgia to Florida, and Victoria spent a lot of time in the car until she finally reached her foster mom. Victoria had 50 staples from her surgery, had phantom pain and was heartworm positive. Her foster mom discovered that Victoria was hearing impaired, but she didn’t mind; she had a deaf Dalmatian before.
After months of treatments for her various medical issues, Victoria’s foster mom became her “Foeva” mom!!! At first, Victoria didn’t know how to act, and she was afraid of everything. Her mom taught her how to play with toys and how to be nice when meeting new people and other dogs.
A lot of people say that Victoria’s forever mom rescued her, but Victoria actually rescued her forever mom!
