Dog Rescue Stories: Zeus Was Emaciated and Frightened

By Jarissa Aquinde, Positively Woof Rescue and Adoption Story Editor
I’m Zeus, I’m a Pit Bull mix (maybe) and we live in Rochester, NY. Dad had been looking for a dog for a while so he checked the Verona Street Animal Shelter (RAS) website almost every day until he saw my picture come up. He went to the shelter a couple days later and when they brought me into the visiting room, I couldn’t stop wiggling! I knew he was going to take me home. He fell in love with me right then and there!
The people at the shelter told him that I was found on the streets but no one knew exactly where I came from. I was in rough shape; hardly any meat on my bones, you could see every rib, every vertebrae; my tail and my back leg had no fur; there were scars covering my body; and I had a pretty gnarly scar on one of my legs. Dad thinks I was a bait dog. That would explain a lot. We went home and I was terrified for the first couple days, but when I knew that I was safe I became the happiest boy! I go for walks every day, have a ton of toys, and I have a bunch of friends that come visit me to play! Despite my rough past, I’m a very happy and friendly dog. My favorite things are snuggling, giving kisses and looking out the window in the sun. I found my furever home and couldn’t be more thankful.
