Ruby was chipped but for some reason, the owners were not contacted. Luckily for her, a couple of days before her time was up, the UK charity Four Paws found her a space at the Blue Cross Burford and transported her over a hundred miles to her new kennel. Her life was saved. She was in bad condition, with numerous infections. She was also exhausted. They also discovered she had hip dysplasia and was in severe discomfort. The kind staff nursed her back to health and found her a temporary foster to give her some respite from kennels.
Blue Cross contacted the people associated with her microchip and they said that they did not want her back. It became clear that she had been passed among a group of people and dumped on the streets deliberately.
Ruby is typical of many Staffies and the sad fact is, they can break down in kennels, as they are a breed that desperately need human contact. Ruby waited and waited but no one came to meet her, as her hip dysplasia put people off. This saddened all the Blue Cross staff, as Ruby had proved to be the sweetest of dogs. Her time in foster was finished and a puppy found dumped in a bucket in London needed foster care more.
Luckily for Ruby, her forever parents found her. They could not resist her beautiful face, regardless of her poorly hips. She was simply lovely and just what they needed after their previous rescue dog had passed away of old age. Ruby is now 8 years old and beyond loved. She’ll never want for anything ever again.
