Dog Rescue Stories: Stirling Was A Shell of A Dog

By Jarissa Aquinde, Positively Woof Rescue and Adoption Story Editor
Stirling was picked up as a stray by Broward Animal Care and Control. When Laura and Joe adopted Stirling from Broward City Shelter, it was very clear that he didn’t have the best start in life.
Stirling was 13 lbs. underweight, sickly and a shell of a dog. He would cower at toys, and sadly, it was apparent that someone had been heavy handed with him in the past.
However, with love, consistency, time and trust, he has now blossomed into the happiest and silliest dog his forever parents have ever met! He makes them laugh everyday, now loves toys, and spends his days swimming and lounging by the pool. He never has to worry about anything ever again.

Why am I smiling? Because today is my very first #gotchaday! Exactly one year ago today my forever family stumbled upon me at a dog event in Broward. I’ve learned a lot in a year: how to play with toys, how to swim, that people are wonderful and that raw food is delicious. Thank you to all my furriends who have been apart of my journey!
